Eger’s 22 for Chargers Not Enough in Season Opener at MATC

MILWAUKEE — The Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team took a lead into halftime but lost its season opener 69-58 at Milwaukee Tech on Wednesday night.

The Chargers (0-1) took a 29-27 lead into the break on a rebound basket by Mackenzie Catton (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone), but the Stormers (1-0) outscored Sandburg 23-14 in the third quarter to go ahead for good.

Chargers sophomore Addison Eger (Mendon, Ill./Unity) scored 22 points to lead all players. Eger scored 13 of her points in the first half. Eger's output was the second 20-point performance of her career. She had 27 in a game against the Stormers last season.

Carley Reeves-Eakins (Branson, Mo./Reeds Spring) added 13 points for Sandburg. Ten of her points came in the fourth quarter, which included a 6-for-6 effort at the free-throw line.

Lauryn Evans had 14 points and Maylee Hayles scored 12 for the Stormers.
